During your trip

While vaccines and other health measures are helping to curb the spread of COVID-19 around the world, it remains important to take active steps to protect yourself and others during your trip. Also, even after you’re vaccinated, be sure you can identify COVID-19 symptoms and know what to do if you get COVID-19 while travelling.

Below are some tips for safer travels during COVID-19 from the Government of Canada.*

  • Use multiple personal preventive practices at the same time (ex. being fully vaccinated, wearing a well-constructed and well-fitting mask properly, washing your hands often, and practicing social distancing with people outside of your immediate household or close travel group).
  • Stay informed of and prepare for the local COVID-19 situation by saving links to local public health resources and following their advice.
  • Know where to access medical care, including a COVID-19 test.
  • Follow local public health recommendations such as gathering size limits.
  • Practice social distancing while avoiding spaces with poor ventilation (ex. buses and minivans) and crowded indoor or outdoor settings (ex. large live performances and sports events or busy bars and restaurants).
  • Avoid common greetings, such as handshakes.
  • You may also wish to sign up for the Registration of Canadians Abroad service.
