How to file a claim

In all likelihood when you travel, you’ll have the time of your life with no unexpected surprises. However, if your journey takes a turn for the worse and you need to make a claim, we’re here to help. 

If your policy or certificate of insurance includes out-of-country medical benefits administered by Allianz Global Assistance, and you require treatment while travelling due to a medical emergency, please call Allianz Global Assistance prior to seeking treatment whenever possible.

In a serious medical emergency, get to a hospital and have a family member or friend call on your behalf once you’re at the facility.

Allianz Global Assistance can be reached toll free within North America using the number included on your confirmation of coverage or wallet card. If you do not have your confirmation of coverage or wallet card with you, please contact us as follows:

  • Within North America: 1-866-520-8823
  • Outside North America – call collect*: 1-519-742-9013

International operator assistance may be required for collect calls, so please confirm how to call collect to Canada from your destination before leaving.

Our emergency assistance team is available 24 hours, 7 days a week and 365 days a year to help: 

  • Provide referrals to qualified medical providers in your area
  • Facilitate direct bill payment with your medical provider where possible, so you can avoid costly out-of-pocket expenses
  • Knowledgeably and efficiently navigate the healthcare system in the region you’re visiting
  • Address questionable, non-emergency, unnecessary, and potentially costly local hospital practices that you may encounter
  • Plan and coordinate arrangements to help ensure your safe return home
  • Coordinate with the Canadian embassy or consulate if necessary

Please have your policy number handy when contacting us. Your policy number can be found on your wallet card or the confirmation of coverage that was sent to you at time of purchase.

Once your claim is opened, you will be sent a claim form to complete. Once received and completed, send in your claim form with your supporting, required documents so your claim can be processed.

If your coverage includes non-medical benefits (i.e. (i.e. Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Lost or Delayed Luggage, etc.) you can submit your claim online through our secure Claims Portal for faster claim processing.

Our online Claims Portal provide you with a smoother, more efficient experience while keeping you informed of what is happening at each stage of your claims journey. The Claims Portal enables you to:

  •  Easily create a secure account, where you can submit and track the status of your claim
  • Access the Claims Portal 24/7 from any device or browser
  • Quickly submit a claim for any product and benefit
  • Upload all necessary documents to process a claim instead of sending them in via regular mail. No scanner? No worries! Photos of documents taken with a mobile device are also accepted.
  • Easily identify any documents you may have missed and add them to your claim submission
  • Save and return to a claim you started but have not yet submitted
