Sustainability and Social Responsibility

At Allianz Global Assistance, we recognize that while we are a business, we are also a part of a community; and how we operate within it matters. Each time we show up for and connect with our community, we do so with intention and strive to exceed the direction and example set by our parent company, Allianz SE, for supporting the community’s health and wellbeing.

Our Sustainability and Social Responsibility program guides and focuses our efforts in the areas of children and youth, diversity and inclusion, our environment and community involvement. We follow through on that direction with purpose, passion and heart because it feels good, it’s the right thing to do and because we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Our partner charities

A special focus on children and youth

Throughout the year, we partner with carefully selected charities that focus on children and youth. This enables us to direct our support where it’s needed most, stand with important issues, and act together to create a brighter future for our kids.

Our Annual Give from your Heart Campaign is a highlight each fall that includes fun and informative opportunities for our employees to get to know the charities better, and helps give an extra boost to their efforts to nurture and support our future generations.

A vision of diversity and inclusion

Our Inclusivity Council focuses on building a strong sense of belonging and community. They do this by identifying gaps and barriers to inclusion, and working towards solutions that help create a safe and healthy work environment. This includes hosting training and activities that provide regular opportunities for education, understanding and awareness around DEI topics, and helping tell the stories of diverse community groups and their unique experiences.

A calling to help others

Giving back to the community we live in is at the heart of what we do. From helping out at a local animal shelter or food bank to attending a child’s field trip to taking part in conservation efforts, our employees are encouraged to lend a helping hand. To support employees further in doing so, we provide them with 7.5 hours to use in the community as well as flexibility in how they volunteer, donate, and participate, so they feel inspired and empowered to make a difference.

A commitment to our environment

We put action behind our commitment to helping make our world a better place. For example, annual community cleanups ensure the space around our head office / our local neighbourhood stays litter free and provides team volunteer opportunities. Our butterfly gardens provide an attractive outdoor space and attract pollinators. We also prioritize developing digital, accessible and inclusive policies, choose to work with other local, sustainably-minded businesses and aim for zero waste in our workplace practices.

A responsibility to “LEED” by example

Our head office in Cambridge, Ontario, is a space our employees and visitors can feel good in and about. It is LEED Silver certified thanks to our thoughtful decisions around the building’s construction, systems, design and materials. Environmentally-friendly features within the space optimize the use of natural resources through 100% renewable energy, reinforce our commitment to reducing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions related to the company’s internal operations, and help ensure our office promotes harmony within its walls, the surrounding community and our environment.
