Notice to Customers Regarding Air Transat Strike

December 8, 2025

Dear valued customers,

Many Canadian travellers have been unfortunately affected by the the pending Air Transat strike action.

To help travellers navigate the situation, impacted customers are recommended to take the following steps:

If you confirm with Air Transat that some of your prepaid trip expenses will not be refundable, and you have travel insurance provided by or administered through Allianz Global Assistance:

  • Review your travel insurance policy or certificate to confirm if you have benefits for Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption or Travel Delay due to strikes (this information will be listed in the “Covered Reasons” section of your policy or certificate).
  • Check the effective dates of your Trip Cancellation coverage on your Confirmation of Coverage.
  • If your policy was purchased on or before November 4th (which Allianz Global Assistance has identified as the date the threat of a strike became a known event), you may be eligible for a reimbursement of your prepaid and non-refundable travel expenses (i.e. hotel costs) that are not covered by the airline or other travel suppliers.
  • Once these steps are complete, submit your claim via the Allianz online claims portal.
  • We will assess each claim individually in accordance with the terms and conditions of the policy or certificate.
  • Disputes over refunds and credits should be directed to the travel service provider, transportation carrier, or the Canadian Transportation Agency.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
